From Michelle: Beverly Jenkins is one of my favorite authors for many reasons. She writes a true American historical, and those of you who lament the lack of those in romance should give her a try. She also gave me one of the most moving moments of my career, bar none. You can actually experience it as I did when you

one of her video AuthorView at Romance: B(u)y the Book. Today, Beverly tosses onto the table a topic near and dear to us, and manages to combine it with our favorite topic: heroes. Please give Miss Beverly your warmest Bella "if food be the music of love, play on" buongiorno...
From Beverly:
Food.
I've no idea why, but for some reason, food often works its way into my stories. Whether it's the peach cobbler school teacher Cara Lee makes for her Buffalo soldier Chase Jefferson in my first Avon historical "
Nightsong" or the oatmeal Nate Grayson sensually feeds to the bedridden Dr. Viveca Lancaster in "
Vivid," food winds up being part of the seduction process.
In "
Deadly Sexy" it's cherries - big, dark succulent berries that the hero Reese Anthony offers to our heroine sports agent JT Blake after coming to her rescue on California's I-5. They blow her away.
What it is about food and romance? Why does a candlelight dinner or chocolate or a fine wine often lead to a great round of hanky panky? I'm sure some scientific studies have been done - (they've studied everything else), but I'm interested in your take on this. My husband and I often bonded over a meal - whether it was the monthly "date night" din

ners he and I had before his passing in 03, or the late night coffee we shared, or the time we had to leave a restaurant in the middle of the first course because - well - never mind, I'm sure you can figure it out.
Anywho. As I said, I'm interested in your theories and or stories on food and romance.
And by the way, the cherries Reese offers JT in "
Deadly Sexy" are on sale in Michigan every June. Road trip anyone??
Thanks. B
