Taurus Monthly Horoscope

March 2013

MONTHLY OVERVIEW
Hello, RSVP central! This month you need a personal assistant, one strictly devoted to your social calendar, as the bold Sun—and four other planets—move through Pisces, your eleventh house of networking and group activities. How else are you going to go salsa dancing with pals, have cocktails at the museum with a colleague, nosh on sushi with your sister and still manage to upload all those pics on Instagram?

And yet, you'll find a way, Taurus. In March, you're all about connecting with your tribe and having some no-holds-barred fun as you make connections, too. Normally, you like to play it safe when meeting folks, e.g., as long as you have a nice bottle of Sancerre at the ready, you're confident you can seal any deal. The first three weeks of the month, though, your best asset is not your five-star taste, but your ability to get those stuffed shirts onto the dance floor or out for an impromptu karaoke night.

One caveat, though: Communicator Mercury is retrograde (backward) in Pisces until March 17, so you may hit a couple of potholes while riding high: botched plans, lost phone numbers, friends whom you're suddenly at odds with. Focus your efforts on reconnecting with old contacts and colleagues, who may bring you some surprising luck, perhaps in the form of a job offer or an invitation to join a networking group that has a lasting, positive effect on your life.

On March 20, the Sun blazes into Aries, your twelfth house of rest and closure, kicking off a four-week period of restoration and reflection. Use this introspective time to tie up loose ends before you celebrate your birthday. In your solitude, you'll be able to identify self-sabotaging behaviors, e.g., you complain about the dude who is not available, even though you saw him, his gaggle of women and the neon "player" sign above his head a mile away. Now is a moment to own your choices, so that you can really enjoy a fresh start when the Sun enters Taurus on April 20.

But first, you may need to delve deep and do some soul-searching. The last week of March, four planets are in Aries: the Sun, go-getter Mars, romantic Venus and pot-stirring Uranus. You may be compelled to seek closure and break away from a difficult person or situation now. Is it time to draw the line and stop sacrificing your own happiness and health for a toxic tie? A retreat or a vacation could help crystallize your wellness goals, especially around March 27, when a full moon in Libra lights up your sixth house of health and organization. You're motivated to get your body and your life running on all six cylinders.

Speaking of circular motion, you could come face-to-face with your own wheel-spinning patterns on this day, since the full moon is caught in a challenging T-square (three-way tug o' war) with Mars, Uranus and Pluto—three intense and power-mongering planets. Grab your fears—and the vices or addictions you use to escape them—by the horns. Goodbye cancer sticks, hello celery sticks! By the way, if smoking is your issue, you might be interested to know that there is a correlation between smoking and grief…so on this full moon, you may end up having to confront whatever it is you've been mourning (and not acknowledging).

Another possibility is that you need a complete mental makeover, a top-to-bottom transformation of your mindset. Do you believe, down to the deepest cellular level, that you can have what you want? If you find echoes or layers of resignation, banish them. That self-protective attitude only gets you stuck in the mire. During this period, you might want to check out a book people are buzzing about called The Tools: Transform Your Problems Into Courage, Confidence and Creativity. Trendy or not, the authors give some powerful visualization techniques that could be useful for getting past your own stubborn blocks—especially now.

LOVE & ROMANCE
If you were an action figure in love, this month, your superpower would be turning lovers into friends and friends into lovers…all without chipping a nail or breaking a sweat. Until March 21, love planet Venus is in poetic Pisces, your eleventh house of friendship, prompting you take on a more casual vibe when it comes to romance. Perhaps you find yourself bonding with a friend over sushi-grade tuna and before you know it, you're seeing this person in a whole new (red) light. Let those sparks fly. Or perhaps it's even an old friend, since Mercury is retrograde (backward) in Pisces until March 17, a time when people from our past often resurface.

With spicy Mars dashing into Aries, your twelfth house of secrets, on March 11, you may find yourself caught in an unlikely tryst. A sexy, clandestine affair might come a-knockin' and you might not want to turn this scintillating invitation down. Whatever the case, you're all about the thrill of the forbidden romance, so why not play the part (with trench coat and oversized sunglasses, perhaps?) Or, for those of you who are already hitched, you may find that your fantasy life in the boudoir picks up some serious steam during this time. Indulge in silky, lacy lingerie or take a trip to your local erotic boutique. Whatever your fantasy fodder may be, enjoy playing it out!

On March 21, love planet Venus slips into Aries, too, making this a good time to get clear on the hurts that have been holding you back in the romance department. If you find yourself dwelling on past heartache, longing for a love who's since gotten married or has otherwise moved on, be careful to not let your notion of "love" become your prison. Instead, you might want to opt for some healing or closure work around a particular situation. Hey, maybe you were meant to be "alone for a season"—and even if that season only lasts a few weeks, it's plenty of time for you to adopt a more spiritual take on your love life and see how you've helped create the circumstances you're in. Fine, your sweetheart's career is taking off and you feel completely neglected (even as you buck up and try to be the "good" partner), but ask yourself if maybe you actually wanted a little bit of a breather? In other words, how are you served by your current situation? Taking even an ounce of responsibility can yield some pretty amazing results right now, especially if your ultimate goal is soul satisfaction. If you need a boost in that department, pick up The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz.

This relationship reflection is further underscored because mature Saturn is currently retrograde in Scorpio, your seventh house of committed partnerships, until July 7. You might already be knee-deep in repairing a relationship, or perhaps you're in serious breakup recovery mode (complete with pretty Kleenex, a strict yoga schedule and lots of good chocolate and cheese). Maybe you need to work harder to align your schedules and find quality time together.

Perhaps you're ready to get more serious in your quest for the person who has long-term relationship potential. Taurus, is there a little growing up to do first? Saturn is the maturity planet, so the youthful qualities you may once have found so charming—adventurous, spontaneous, non-committal—could now seem pretty unappealing. In other words: adults with skateboards are no longer cute, Taurus. As much as your determined sign wants to make the real-deal love happen stat, you'll fare better if you take a bigger picture view. No cutting corners or sweeping your need for security under the rug. To really repair a rocky relationship, you can't bulldoze your way to the conclusion of your satisfaction. But if anyone is equipped to roll up her sleeves and get to work, it's you. Have faith that your efforts will pay off, hopefully in the form of a rock-solid commitment (and maybe even a rock!).

MONEY & CAREER
As the month begins, your professional theme song could easily be "The Way We Were" by fellow Taurus Barbra Streisand. With communicator Mercury retrograde (backward) in your eleventh house of networking until March 17, your best bet for career advancement is a stroll down Memory Lane. Retrogrades favor past connections, so dial up your former boss or cubicle-mate to see what she has going on now. Schedule happy hour drinks with old colleagues and reminisce. If you stopped going to a particular professional association, maybe you'll consider popping by a meeting or figuring out another way to get involved again.

Since the eleventh house also rules technology, get strategic about cleaning up your social profiles, e.g., no compromising photos of you half-baked at the swim-up bar in Cancun, circa '04. Does LinkedIn still have a job you haven't worked at since 2010 listed as your current employer? That outdated info matters, Taurus, so get with the (social networking) program and add some polish to your presentation. Another great use of the retrograde phase is brushing up on your tech skills. A little HootSuite or Pinterest tutorial, perhaps? Don't forget to back up all of your data, too, since Mercury retrograde can cause unexpected computer crashes.

On March 11, a new moon in Pisces, your eleventh house of teamwork, breathes new life into your collaborations and group projects. This is an excellent day for turning a fresh page, when it comes to your own authentic connections. Perhaps you find a bunch of kindred spirits who want to revitalize a community garden. Or you join forces with some driven, idealistic folks determined to rebuild areas stricken by natural disasters. You may set an intention to be more "real" in terms of your visionary thinking or just feel more optimistic about the crowd you're running in…and its potential to transform both your world and the world outside your window. If you're a business owner, perhaps you add a charitable component to your company and mandate "giving back" (trust us, it will come back tenfold). This new moon is also good for putting the finishing touches on a website or digital product. However, you might want to start with a soft launch. With mischievous Mercury doing backstrokes through your house of technology until March 17, you'd be wise to wait a full week for the big, splashy debut.

Even after Mercury moves forward, you may find that you aren't working at your usual pace—not with energetic Mars trudging through Aries, your twelfth house of rest and closure, from March 11 to April 19. During this period, focus your attention on wrapping up any unfinished projects. Conserve your resources. If you promised someone an entire constellation, a single shooting star may be all you're capable of delivering—and that has to be enough right now. Your clients know you deliver 150 percent, so allowing yourself to relax a little into the ebb and flow of your natural rhythms. (We know, you're used to muscling through…but not this time.) You also may face off with a saboteur, or someone who seems to be opposing you purposefully. You don't have a lot of combat in you, so try to protect yourself (and your assets) while separating from whatever potentially toxic situation is brewing. Fear not, Bull: the Sun and go-getter Mars both move into Taurus on April 19, which will be a much livelier time for you. Hold off on any big debuts until next month, a more favorable time for takin'-care-of-business Tauruses.

The month ends on a practical yet intense note. On March 27, the Libra full moon illuminates your sixth house of efficiency, shining floodlights on your need to streamline and systematize. With a surge of renewed energy, you could be moving through your slush pile as if you just downed a case of Red Bulls. Organize your office space, revamp your calendar, prioritize your projects and goals. What is the most important thing to you right now?

In this process, you may encounter some stumbling blocks, since the potent full moon forms a tense angle to feisty Mars and unpredictable Uranus in Aries and intense Pluto in Capricorn. Pulled in different directions, you may find that you have a hard time letting go of that old business plan…or, in an even more challenging development, letting go of a particular person. If you're a business owner, you might be keeping a staff person around out of guilt, even though you've outgrown this person's skill set. Every time you think of handing over the pink slip, you remember the story about that person's sick grandmother and you're all, Oh…maybe next month! Or, someone once helpful has now become an energy drain. Does this colleague always turn conversations into bitch-fests about why the company sucks or other places that do it oh so much better? Well, these seemingly minor moments add up, deteriorating the fabric of a healthy work environment. To deal with this liability, you may need to cut ties or move away, realigning yourself with someone more positive who is going to lift you up, not pull you down.

With the full moon also at odds with plumb-the-depths Pluto in Capricorn, your ninth house of higher education, you may find yourself back in the classroom, either literally or figuratively. As earthy as your sign is, a part of you yearns for a more spiritual, bigger-picture view. For starters, check out the work of advertising guru (and Reiki master!) Hank Wasiak, who writes about "asset-based thinking" for a range of audiences. His message may spur you in just the right direction. Perhaps there are factors you're not seeing from a more metaphysical level, or deeply entrenched limiting beliefs that need to be dismantled so that you can truly fly.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL
Dial up the masseuse, Taurus. With fiery Mars in your twelfth house of rest and endings, you're not feeling terribly energetic. In fact, this period, which, lasts from March 11 to April 19, coincides with the naturally reflective time that comes before your birthday anyway, when you hibernate and think back on all that you have accomplished, all that you want to accomplish. If you feel foggy and confused, don't worry—it will lift. For now, if there are demands you can't keep pace with, go easy on yourself. Guard against burnout and exhaustion by not taking on too much, especially out of guilt or feeling like you have to "save" a particular situation. (Your pal who always calls with a sob story? She will find someone else to listen to this current episode, we assure you.) Be mindful of whom you let into your sphere now, because there could be aggressive energy vampires, the kind you can't even detect are in your midst until it's too late. The more careful you are about the subtle shifts around you, the more you can direct your (limited) energy into tying up unfinished business...and in this case, the loose ends could be purely emotional, requiring solitude and hot soaks in the tub.

On March 27, a powerful Libra full moon illuminates your sixth house of health and fitness. While you may be tempted to guzzle a side of green juice with your bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the real answer—for your overall good—could be a little deeper than a quick fix. Opt for a full overhaul, rather than a Band-Aid. The full moon's opposition to tense Mars and change-maker Uranus in Aries indicate that there may be deeper psychological motives that you need to examine, but that you might prefer to avoid. (Yeah, we know…who likes admitting that they overeat when feeling inadequate?) But if you want to kick that habit to the curb—whether it's smoking, drinking or overeating—you will need to take out the magnifying glass and examine that part of your psyche you like to just gloss over.

Perhaps you also have a "crisis of faith," since this moon is squaring shadowy Pluto in Capricorn, your ninth house of the higher mind—also known as the "God house" of the zodiac. Most Tauruses surrender to no one, so if your transformation requires yielding to a higher power or "talking to the universe," you may be especially resistant and skeptical. But underneath that great defiance is tremendous spiritual and healing capacity waiting to be unleashed. Perhaps you need to start with a more toe-in-the-water approach, though. Check out Gabby Bernstein's book May Cause Miracles: A 40-Day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change and Unlimited Happiness. Taurus is naturally a creature of habit, so taking small actions each day is always the best way for you to form powerful new patterns that shift your life for good.
