Pisces Monthly Horoscope

November 2012

MONTHLY OVERVIEW
Ooh, Pisces, it’s a wild world…one that you’re ready to explore this month, as the energizing Sun moves through Scorpio, your ninth house of optimism and global travel. Everywhere you turn, your perspective is expanding, especially when it comes to your career and big-picture goals. Feeling like a jaunt to the Red Sea would help put things in perspective? It might. You never know what sort of epiphanies will be afforded when you pack your bags and hit the road. This month, especially, if you have a chance to skip off across the globe, go for it, especially as a cluster of planets fire up your ninth house of cross cultural connections. Or, if you’re homebound, you can find other ways to broaden your horizons, perhaps by enrolling in a degree program or joining a club that explores a new culture. When it comes to seeking new realms, your answer is “Oui!”

Book those tickets the first week of the month if you can. From November 6-26, communicator Mercury goes retrograde (backward), which can cause SNAFUs with travel, schedules, technology and everything that makes life run smoothly. Be careful what you say, especially at work. Flippant statements are a no-no. Though you might think your offhand comment is a knee-slapper, you may unwittingly hit a coworker’s Achilles heel. Sarcasm or bluntness has a high chance of being misinterpreted. Make sure you get your files and other important documents backed up early in the month…especially those dreamy projects, like, say, your half-finished memoir, which is just sitting idly on your hard drive. As much as you like to live on the edge, in this case, you’re better safe than sorry.

Amidst all these planetary shifts, there’s one you’re likely to feel a little more strongly than others: on November 10, Neptune, your ruler, goes direct (forward) in Pisces, ending a five-month retrograde (backward) period. This shift opens the floodgates to your personal stores of glamour and enchantment. If you’ve been lacking that Piscean magic, it’s about to return with a vengeance. So get back to your impeccable attention to self-care, and revel in your naturally seductive powers; it’ll feel like you’re flipping a familiar switch. Hooray!

On November 13, a Scorpio solar (new moon) eclipse lights up your ninth house of publishing, spirituality and higher education. This event sparks a three-year series of eclipses on the Taurus/Scorpio axis, changing the way you learn, travel, think and communicate. If your default setting is gossip, pry yourself away from smaller-minded concerns, and get back to thinking big. Though you think such comments are harmless, they can also be a Piscean’s best weapon for passive-aggression. Perhaps the time is right for you to lighten up. When you find yourself going down a negative path, take a second and pray to the stars for clarity. Over these next few years, you might be inspired to turn your life experiences into a book. (If that’s the case, you must check out the grand dame of personal narrative—and fellow Pisces—Patricia Hampl.) Or, perhaps you’ll start blogging stories about all the wonderful, dreamy encounters you have as you drift through your days. The vehicle for self-expression is less important than the fact that you start somewhere. Perhaps you’ll head back to school to finish a degree in philosophy, or to stand up in the classroom as a teacher and share what you know. During this time, a spiritual or metaphysical awakening could challenge your most cherished beliefs and values, i.e. you’re a devout atheist, but the passing of your beloved Aunt Sheila (and the subsequent vivid dreams you have about her) make you start questioning your conceptions of the afterlife. The eclipse in Scorpio could bring a sudden opportunity to travel or relocate…or just one of those undeniably life-altering visions of the future. Maybe you and your love take a romantic getaway to Sedona or a similar mystical spot, where you see your relationship unfolding in beautiful ways. Let the epiphanies wash over you, as they will be visceral and speak to the language of your soul, as opposed to the script in your head. Just the way you like it, Pisces.

If the midmonth eclipse seem to demand action, you should keep in mind that clever Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio, your ninth house of expansion, from November 14-26. In other words, don’t jump off that cliff unless you have to—and well, it’s quite possible you will, since eclipse events can demand decisive action. Still, take as much time as you can to think the situation through before you gamble. Do you really see yourself settling down in Bora Bora? By month’s end, you’ll be more confident in making the right moves.

At month’s end, a November 28 full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini shines a light on your fourth house of home, bringing the conclusion of a domestic or personal matter that started at the May 20 solar eclipse. This might be the only time of the month to focus on your non-work life, so soak up these healing, nurturing vibes. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to move homes, or just go for a complete decorative overhaul. Or, if you’ve been enmeshed in your family’s dramas, you might take some healthy distance to tend to your own needs. Since the fourth house rules motherhood, you could get unexpectedly pregnant. One thing is for sure: on this date, self-nurturing is paramount. So make it a spa date, or just take a pause to tend to your emotional and physical needs. A pampered Pisces is a happy Pisces!

LOVE & ROMANCE
Is that purring we hear? Your inner sex kitten is on a tear this month, as magnetic Venus tours Libra, your eighth house of intimacy and soul bonding, until November 21. During this time, you crave one-on-one time in the boudoir and beyond. If work has been cramping your sensual style, don’t hesitate to set up some elaborate romantic dates, with the express purpose of steaming up the windows. Draw a soothing, sensual tub for you and your honey, complete with a relaxing elixir for the water, like Fresh’s floral Sake bath. Don’t forget jazzy, down-tempo music and an abundance of candles. Intimacy is anything but athletic this month; in fact, bring back the tenderness any way you can.

On November 16, spicy Mars enters Capricorn, your eleventh house of platonic friendships. Perhaps a sexy attraction with a pal suddenly heats up. Suddenly, you’re wondering if there was an ulterior motive, all those times you’d bonded over your respective romantic tumult. During the next six weeks, you become adept at turning lovers into friends and friends into lovers. Or, you might meet someone at a holiday gathering. If you’re single, making merry could easily translate to more. So deck your sexy self to the nines and get out there!

On November 21, love planet Venus enters Scorpio, your ninth house of travel and cross-cultural connections. This sets your imagination on fire, with fantasies of couples massages by the deep blue sea, hours of closeness as you trek across the Himalayas or heading to Buenos Aries for evenings of tango, pampas-grown steak and earthy Malbecs. But before you get your pre-holiday jaunt on, remember that Mercury is retrograde for most of the month. So plan now, but schedule the trip for after the 26th, when the planet of travel moves direct (forward). If the embers of your relationship seem to be fading, bring back the spark by engaging in mind-expanding opportunities together. Take a couple’s workshop, perhaps learning the art of soufflés or homemade pizza, or how to speak another language (one that will come in handy for your forthcoming trip). If you’re single, now is a great time for self-study, since you can look at yourself and your habits in love with more objectivity. Open up to learn about love from a fresh perspective, maybe even hiring a love coach to guide you along the way.

By month’s end, a November 28 full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini, your fourth house of domesticity, could bring a development on the baby front, especially if your desire to become a parent has been building since the May 20 solar eclipse in Gemini. If you have a codependent tendencies with your best bud or female relative, you might understand, in a very real way, just how this dynamic is slowing down your love life. If you have to cut unhealthy ties, now is your time. The full moon in your home sector might also mean that cohabitation is in your (near) future. So prep your personal space, making room for two.

MONEY & CAREER
A word to the wise this month, Pisces: caution! With communicator Mercury retrograde (backward) in blunt Sagittarius, your tenth house of professional standing, from November 6 to November 14, you might find yourself sticking your Manolo in your mouth, especially at the office. Even if you normally have a harmonious relationship with the higher-ups, tensions with authority could become apparent now (and hopefully not because you decide to make a snarky comment about the terrible idea to consolidate staff meetings). With Mercury gone awry, take extra care to back up your work files, so that you don’t lose precious documents. You may have trouble sticking to a rigid schedule or set structures, so instead of setting yourself up for failure, just add in extra time to all activities. If you think you can produce a draft of a presentation in four days, why not give yourself six, just in case? Bet on Murphy’s Law: anything that can go wrong will, particularly because you are naturally not into pesky details…so be uncharacteristically vigilant. Also, watch what you put into writing, especially if it’s sensitive information or, worse, flat out gossip.

This becomes even more important when Mercury backs into Scorpio, your ninth house of brutal honesty, from November 14 to November 26. The last thing you need is your catty message about your boss’ bad habit of eating his bagel and cream cheese with his mouth open to make the rounds. Or, eager to get out of your current position, you might be so focused on how much you can’t stand your annoying boss that you “accidentally” type in her name into the address line when sending your resume out for a new gig. Oops! One guy we know worked in the basement of his office and had a habit of belting out Top 40 tunes, since no one could hear him anyway. But one afternoon, during a particularly heartfelt rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (the dance version, for you ballad aficionados), he realized he forgot to hang up the phone after his recent voicemail. Fast forward: three hours later, his version was making the office rounds, much to his chagrin. Pisces, you need not suffer this kind of embarrassment…so be careful in all matters of communication.

Midmonth, a November 13 solar eclipse in Scorpio, your ninth house of expansion, opens your eyes to all the possibilities at your fingertips. You’re seized by a sudden desire to live larger than you’ve been living. Perhaps you’ll start your own mentoring business or unearth a new hobby that has the potential to transform the way you think. With your finger on the collective pulse, you could turn your joy of gathering stories into an oral history book that gets published. Seeds you plant now will bloom six months down the line, at the April full moon lunar eclipse.

Soon after, intense Mars enters Capricorn, your eleventh house of networking. So even as the grid shifts around you (courtesy of the eclipse) get out there and mingle…someone you meet now could be a particularly fruitful contact down the road. In fact, when you start connecting all the dots, you might not even believe your stellar fortune. (What are the odds you’d meet an art teacher at your cousin’s soiree, only to realize later that said teacher is also a brilliant filmmaker and has sharp ideas about where and how to promote your latest project?) Take the lead and set up an after-work gathering, so that you can introduce like-minded colleagues to one another.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL
Don’t stress yourself sick! On November 10, spiritual Neptune goes direct (forward) in your first house of new beginnings, after a five-month retrograde period, which you’ve likely felt strongly. With Neptune direct, you’ll experience more clarity and more energy, with fewer “leaks” in your energetic body. Perhaps during this last five-month stretch, you’ve found you needed more sleep or have wanted to be alone more than usual. Chances are, you’ve felt drained by the people around you, even those you don’t know personally. As you enjoy a spike in your vitality, now is a great time to address the issue of managing and containing your personal energy, before such drains manifest as a physical symptom, such as a cold or fever.

A November 28 full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini, your fourth house of nurturing, calls you to address some nagging issues, possibly with your mother, or a female relative or friend. Perhaps you secretly want to be more independent, but fear hurting the other person’s feelings. Since full moons can be emotional, you may find yourself unable to contain what’s likely been brewing over the last six months, since the May 20 Gemini eclipse. Perhaps it’s time you’ve moved on, even in the literal sense—a change of residence is very possible.

If you really want to “help” people through a tough time, remember that the most loving thing you can do is NOT to enable. Take a stand for healthy, appropriate boundaries, something that doesn’t always come easily to you. Don’t worry. You’re not alone. One Pisces pal we know actually had to Google “how to set healthy boundaries” when she realized that her blurry lines were taking a toll on her physical and mental health. This full moon is also a good chance to break self-soothing habits, such as using food to anesthetize your difficult emotions. While we all love melted gouda on toast, we also know, at least deep down, the difference between eating to avoid a feeling versus eating for true sustenance and pleasure. If you’re plagued by body issues, now is your moment to embrace your shape exactly as it is in this moment, feeling sexy and secure in your own luminous skin.
