MONTHLY OVERVIEW
It’s Pisces time! The Sun is in your sign until March 19, making for an active birthday month. Many of you Pisces have felt change lapping up on your shores since last month, and there’s been a bit too much motion in some Piscean oceans. On February 3, your ruling planet, Neptune, entered Pisces for 14 years — its first and only visit here during your lifetime. You’ve been snapped out of a long and languid cycle that began in 1998, and everything’s up for questioning. Who you are, what you do, where you fit into the grand scheme of things … it’s all evolving at a rapid rate. So if you’ve felt a little, well, seasick, no surprise.
In some ways, March helps you get clearer about who you are. In other ways, you become even more unmoored. (Remember, this Neptune cycle is a long one, and you’re just getting an early glimpse of the new you.) To make things a little murkier, communication planet Mercury will be retrograde (moving backward) from March 12 through April 4, and it’s in Pisces from the 23rd on. Mercury retrograde is known for scrambling technology, delaying travel and causing rampant misunderstandings. With Mercury retrograde in your sign, you may feel like people don’t “get” you. Rather than make any big debuts during this time, lie low and tweak your presentation. Save the showstopping moments for next month.
Relationships are in the spotlight at the March 8 Virgo full moon, which illuminates your partnership sector. Is it time to make it official, take things to the next level or even call the whole thing off? This full moon can help bring clarity, courage or closure. On March 19, the Sun moves into Aries, your second house of work, money and daily routine. You can start to put some of your new ideas and identity into tangible form. A job or moneymaking opportunity could arrive at the March 22 Aries new moon. Since this moon is joined by Mercury retrograde (which brings back the past) and techie Uranus, don’t be surprised if it all begins with an email from an old friend or colleague.
LOVE & ROMANCE
This month’s focus is more on yourself than on relationships, with the exception of the March 8 Virgo full moon. While the Sun’s tour of Pisces has you feeling independent and busy with your own life, this full moon puts your love life front and center. A budding connection could turn official, or it may be time to have “the talk” about where things are going. Although Pisceans have a way of leaving things a little undefined, the full moon makes you anxious to know if there’s potential here — is it worth your time?
If you’re in a relationship, this full moon could help you clear the air, especially if things have felt lopsided between you two. Is one of you pulling more than your fair share of the weight? Are you feeling a lack of quality time or a desire for more time together? While you may worry about coming across as critical or accusatory, this is about advocating to get your genuine needs met. And if you have some pent-up resentment (or even sexual frustration), it’s to be expected. Stressful Mars is retrograde in Virgo from January 23 through April 13, stirring up extra relationship tension. Combine that with a full moon and there are bound to be a few fireworks. Here’s hoping you make love, not war!
Handing you a few olive branches are philosophical Jupiter and romantic Venus (the cosmic diplomat), both in Taurus this month. Taurus rules your friendly third house of communication, and this planetary double dip reminds you to treat your beloved as well as you treat a friend or acquaintance. (Isn’t it funny how the more we know someone, the worse we treat him or her sometimes?) If you’re single, your friends are the perfect matchmakers. You could also meet someone doing volunteer work or attending cultural events in your neighborhood. Volunteer to be part of a community garden cleanup, or sign up for the Earth Day planning committee.
MONEY & CAREER
Free your mind and the cash will follow. While the Sun is in Pisces until March 19, it’s a great time just to explore your curiosities, dabble in new ideas and see where they take you. Vow not to pigeonhole yourself or to worry whether something is going to become a lifelong career. Explore, take a chance, and try before you buy. Take a few ideas for a test drive and see if any are a good fit.
Another reason not to commit too quickly? Communication planet Mercury is retrograde (moving backward) from March 12 through April 4. Back up your electronic data to a Cloud or external drive, as this cycle famously crashes networks and computers. Hold off on buying any new gadgets, too. Mercury is in Aries, your second house of work and money, until the 23rd. Hang on to your cash and revamp your budget. An old bill or expense could come due unexpectedly. This is a good time to renegotiate interest rates and to make sure you’re not missing out on any potential income tax refunds. Scrutinize any paperwork before you sign, and if possible, delay inking your autograph to contracts until April.
The strong financial focus begins March 19, when the Sun moves into Aries, your work-and-money sign. The Aries new moon March 22 could bring a job opportunity or a chance to start working your way toward a promotion or a prestigious offer. Technology may figure in now, as this new moon aligns with messenger Mercury and future-forward Aquarius. Depending on what you do, you could connect with a promising prospect through LinkedIn, Twitter or even social-sharing sites like Pinterest.
Remember, though, stern Saturn is retrograde in your eighth house of long-term finance until late June. This can be an unfavorable time for investments, real estate and legal matters. Taxes can be a bit of a bear this year, or your refund might be a little slimmer than usual. Don’t push the limits or fudge the numbers. Aim to get everything clear and accurate, and stick to slower-growing strategies. A penny saved is a penny earned — especially when you put it in a high-interest-yielding savings account.
HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL
It’s spring makeover time! Experiment with a new look or hairstyle while the Sun is in Pisces through March 19. Why follow the fashion magazine prescriptions when you have enough original style of your own? Play with some bold color and texture combinations, or even wear one of your own designs if you’re the DIY type. Just stay away from the tattoo parlors while Mercury is retrograde in Pisces from March 23 through April 4. You may have a couple of fashion “don’ts” during that time, so it’s best if they’re not permanent!
Your friendships could go through a “golden age” this month as peaceful Venus and benevolent Jupiter meet in Taurus, your social third house. Conversations could be deep, but also harmonious, as you find a lot of “simpatico” energy flowing between you and others. A relationship with a sibling improves during this cycle. While it’s good to be challenged, it feels even better to connect with kindred spirits. Who cares if you’re preaching to the choir when the music sounds so lovely?
The week of March 11 through March 17 is great for hosting a party, while a grand trine between Mars, Jupiter and Pluto helps you deepen friendships and express your generosity. A friend may lean on you during this time, or a colleague could confide in you. Your wisdom and penetrating insight can make a huge difference, deepening your bond and building trust.
