MONTHLY OVERVIEW
Remember those resolutions you made, oh, about eleven months ago? It’s not too late to fulfill them, Pisces. In fact, December is always a goal-oriented month for you, thanks to the Sun’s annual trip to Sagittarius, your tenth house of career and long-term plans. The Sun visits Sagittarius until December 21, keeping you busy for the first three weeks of the month. Every day is an opportunity to act on your desires, Pisces, so re-presence your 2012 wishes. Whether you dreamed of trekking up Machu Picchu, getting a non-profit fiscally sponsored or vowing to go vegan, it’s not too late to take a few long strides toward fulfilling your visions.
Midmonth is especially active, especially on the career front. On December 13, a Sagittarius new moon could bring a new career opportunity—perhaps a year-end bonus, promotion or even a job offer. A goal you’ve been working toward for the last six months could come together with a flourish. (High five! You got an investor for your raw juice delivery business!) Or, you may decide that you’re d-o-n-e with one line of work, and ready to make 2013 THE year that you finally go back to school for your social work degree, start selling your oil paintings online, or apply for an overseas position. Think back to the corresponding Sagittarius new moon on June 19, which also happened to be a change-making solar eclipse. Big shifts from that time could finally make sense, and a dream you’ve been diligently striving toward could bear fruit. Your relationship with your father or an important man could be spotlighted now, too, as the tenth house is associated with males and authority figures.
Also on December 13, unstable Uranus ends a five-month retrograde (backward) period in Aries, your second house of work and money. If your budget has been as stable as a wooden shack in an earthquake, fear not—Uranus’ return to direct (forward) motion will help you creatively revamp your finances. Unexpected costs will stop pelting you from left field, and your income should get more steady. If your office environment has been fraught with tension or uncertainty, that should smooth over now, too.
Your work focus wanes a bit when the Sun enters Capricorn, your eleventh house of group activity, on December 21. Can you say fiesta? Go out and celebrate like it was the end of the world. Oh wait—it is. Just kidding! The Mayan prophecies, in our opinion, aren’t meant to be taken literally. The “world” that’s ending is the divisive reality we’ve lived in—a matrix of gotta-get-mine greed, separateness, and destruction of the planet. The 2012 awakening marks a cultural shift toward unity, collective consciousness and heightened spiritual awareness. Good stuff that, if you’re an astrology follower, you’ve probably already tapped into. Heck, as a Pisces—the most compassionate and mystical zodiac sign—you might have embodied these values your whole life. So the world in many ways is becoming more Piscean. Lucky you! You can finally stop feeling like a misfit or a tragic figure for being so sensitive.
So, since we can all expect to wake up on December 22, stock your social calendar with some well-deserved revelry. Actually, you’ve probably been doing that all month, since go-getter Mars is in Capricorn, your networking sector, until December 25. Go out and mingle for your jingle, Pisces. Mix business and pleasure: buy tickets to a black-tie benefit where you can nibble bacon-wrapped scallions and goat cheese tarts with the movers and shakers. Leave the holiday soirees with a few business cards securely in your sequined clutch—and follow up with a brief email the next day. Don’t forget to tuck a few of your own cards in there along with your lip gloss and keys.
On December 28, a Cancer full moon spotlights your fifth house of romance and passion. This could be one steamy night—but the explosive fireworks might burn you if you’re not careful. This full moon will oppose shadowy Pluto in Capricorn, your eleventh house of group activities. Yikes: could there be a Real Housewives-style blowout in your midst? Simmering group dynamics could escalate into table-flipping temper tantrums. Well, maybe not THAT bad, but unspoken tension with a friend or in a group could escalate into an emotional vent-a-thon. With rabble-rousing Uranus in the mix, there could be some ego clashes—or perhaps the root of this fight is a fundamental difference in your fundamental values. If only it was easy to “agree to disagree,” but taking the high ground is nearly impossible when your irrational “lizard brain” (a.k.a. the amygdala) is lit up like a Christmas tree.
Walking away from this brawl is an option—but from the relationship? Probably not. So how can you peacefully coexist in the future? Well, start by reminding yourself that the people around you are messengers and a mere reflection of your inner state. If someone is digging in his heels or defying your every opinion, maybe there’s a part of YOU that’s being subtly stubborn or rebellious. Sniff around and investigate. Then adopt a stance of gratitude for these “difficult people”—without them, you wouldn’t know where the next step of your personal evolution should be.
New Year’s Eve brings a Leo moon in your sixth house of health and service. Ring in 2013 with roasted root vegetables, cashew “cheese” fondue or maybe a fun recipe from Kris Carr’s new cookbook Crazy Sexy Kitchen. Or maybe before you hit the soirees, you log a couple hours at a soup kitchen or women’s shelter, helping folks who’ve hit hard times start 2013 with fresh hope, warm food and kind company. The moon forms a supportive angle to harmonious Venus in Sagittarius, your career house. Perhaps there’s an industry benefit or fundraiser calling your name. If you’re looking for love, you could feel some year-end sparks with someone you meet professionally, or possibly an older or more established person. Maybe you and your sweetheart hit the volunteer circuit together. As you watch the compassionate way your honey speaks to the homeless, you think, “Wow—what a genuinely good human being. This could be the parent of my future kids.” Hey, you never know. Happy New Year, Pisces!
LOVE & ROMANCE
December’s romantic vibes are more free-spirited and fun, especially in the first half of the month. Love planet Venus is in Scorpio, your ninth house of travel, adventure and cross-cultural connections, until December 15. You might want to sample the holiday buffet before you settle on just one dish. With sexy Mars in your group activity house, you could meet a buddy with benefits through mutual friends or at a party. Or, perhaps you just feel sparks with a formerly platonic pal! If you do any pre-holiday travel, don’t think twice—strike up a conversation with that attractive seatmate on your five-hour flight, or chat up a cutie during you layover at the Denver airport. Compliment his iPad Mini and ask how he likes it (or, whip out your own tablet and compare features). Have you always dated a certain type? Prepare to be taken by a sexy accent or someone from a different background than your usual admirers. Coupled Pisces might want to spice up the action by taking a trip together—or at least checking winter fares to Hawaii or the French Riviera. If you’re heading home for the holidays with your honey, you could make sweet memories. Head outdoors to enjoy all the nostalgic trappings like tree (or menorah) lightings, ice skating and hot cocoa.
On December 15, Venus moves into Sagittarius, your tenth house of long-term plans. Is it time to talk about the future together? Peaceable Venus will ensure that the conversation goes smoothly, even if you have to bring up a touchy topic. For example, maybe you see yourself as a city slicker, while your sweetie yearns for a sturdy brick colonial in a leafy ‘burb (complete with rugrats occupying at least 2.5 of the bedrooms). It doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker, Pisces. With diplomatic Venus in the mix, you might craft the perfect compromise—one that melts your hesitation about moving forward in the relationship—e.g., you buy a house near your partner’s parents (free babysitting!) and decamp to a romantic weekend pied-a-terre in the closest cosmopolitan hub, sans dependents. It can all be worked out…you’ll see!
The tenth house also governs the important men in your life. If your significant other happens to bear a Y chromosome, the second half of December is perfect for rekindling romance, sharing your feelings more openly and smoothing over any rough patches. Your relationship with your father also comes into play, especially at the December 13 new moon. Whether he was part of your life or not, your dad set the tone for how you relate to all men—so naturally, there will be some baggage (even if your pops occupies a prime pedestal). The new moon and Venus both help you turn a clean page on this relationship, evolving the way you relate to your father, and in turn, all the fellas out there: brothers, employees, bosses, your friends’ boyfriends and husbands, or however 50 percent of the population sorts itself out in your life. Nurture a relationship with a man in your life, even if it’s just as friends or colleagues. He could turn out to be a wise and protective ally, which in turn helps you value yourself more and make better choices in love and life.
MONEY & CAREER
Does your career path leave you tired or inspired? That will be the question this month, as the Sun tours Sagittarius, your tenth house of success and life purpose. The Sun is here through December 21, so as 2012 wraps up, it’s the perfect time for a bird’s-eye glimpse of your life direction. It’s been quite a year of change, as your ruler Neptune moved into Pisces for the long haul this spring—a transit that will last until 2026. This was Neptune’s first zodiac sign change since 1998, and it could have heralded a huge shift in your priorities and plans. Do you even know who you are anymore, Pisces? More than ever…and less than ever at the same time!
If you’re still feeling, well, totally unsure of what you want or where you stand, remember that your reinvention process could take a little while to gel. Trust that even as you consider a gazillion different ideas (you’ll become a raw chocolatier! A professional flower arranger! Learn to code PHP and Cold Fusion!), your subconscious is parsing it all. In due time, it will make sense, and you’ll see that even your most outrageous schemes were part of the whole big-picture unfolding. Meantime, let yourself wander…and play! One Pisces we know suddenly began painting oil-on-canvas portraits of his friends this year. Even better, it happened by “accident” after he planned a move to New York and sold his overstuffed couches. The relocation didn’t happen (we’ll spare you the details…it’s a Pisces thing), but the extra floor space left room for an easel…and voila, an artiste was born.
The December 13 Sagittarius new moon could mark a red-letter day for launching a product or business, job interviewing, or making a career-defining move. New moons bring fresh starts, so get ready to turn a new page, Pisces! This kicks off a six-month cycle, one that will really come together in late May 2013 at the Sagittarius full moon. Plant the seeds now. If you’re eager to break away from your current (possibly oppressive) gig, but not sure where to turn next, check out this free online class from Marcus Buckingham and Oprah Winfrey called “Take Control of Your Career and Your Life”: http://www.oprah.com/money/Marcus-Buckinghams-Career-Intervention. Buckingham is the author of Now, Discover Your Strengths, and in this series he helps you clarify your natural talents and weak points. On a related note, if you’re not watching OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network) and you’re a cable subscriber in the U.S., you’re missing out! Pisces, this channel—and the corresponding material on Oprah.com—was tailor-made for you. It’s wise, spiritual and steeped in personal growth with a healthy side of the metaphysical. Great fodder as you ponder your 2013 path and resolutions.
On December 13, unstable Uranus ends a five-month backspin in Aries, your work and money sign. Having this rebellious, rabble-rousing planet retrograde in the zone of your chart that rules material security…well, Pisces, we feel for you. The upside is that you’ve been pushed to get more creative with your budgeting and earning strategies, dabbling in freelance work or improving your tech-savvy skills. Uranus here has even made you more outspoken with coworkers and clients. That’s great…except with Uranus in its dicey retrograde position, your assertiveness may have read as unnecessarily confrontational (e.g., you were merely suggesting that your company adopt a recycling policy, not accusing your coworkers of wasting paper…and now they’re calling you “Greenpeace” behind your back.). Your budget may have failed to account for an unplanned cost—a root canal, replacing a furnace, a roommate moving out sans notice and shafting you with the rent—leaving you short on funds. Mo’ money, mo’ problems.
Fortunately, once Uranus returns to direct (forward) motion this month, The holidays could bring unexpected (but lovely) opportunities to earn cash through freelance gigs, a contract job or short-term projects. If you’ve felt downright rebellious about doing work, you can finally focus, just in time for that year-end push. It will be easier to stick to a budget now, though you’ll still need your pleasurable side trips. Since Uranus rules technology, consider an online business or revenue stream that could bring you passive income. Even joining an affiliate program for a product or personality you adore could be a great income source. After all, you’re probably crowing about the life-changing miracles you’ve seen to all your friends. Why not earn a commission for selling them the better-than-Botox organic skin care set that’s turned back the clock for you? Or for registering them for a seminar that totally turned around the way you relate to the opposite sex? It’s a living, Pisces—and since you have such an enchanting way of describing the things you love, it should be an easy sell!
HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL
Have you been blown from Kansas to Oz? On November 28, a full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini, your home and family sector, could have turned your personal life upside-down and inside-out. Your relationship with a relative, especially a female one, may have gone through an important transformation. Perhaps you had the sudden epiphany that you need to move—perhaps even to a different time zone. Maybe necessity was the mother of invention when your landlord announced a 2013 rent hike or you discovered that developers would be constructing high-rise luxury condos directly between your favorite window and a stunning waterfront view.
Eclipses are change makers, bringing events out of left field, or pushing us to get off the proverbial fence. So if you’ve been waffling about your living situation or personal life, you should be feeling much clearer—even if it took a kick in the pants from the cosmos. The fourth house rules motherhood, so you might even be feeling a touch of baby fever—or maybe an actual bun in the oven. A pregnancy or news of one is certainly possible now. December will give you time to sort through whatever the eclipse brought up—and to start making plans that will help you smoothly execute any changes.
Your energy is high for most of the month, fortunately. However, on December 25, energizer Mars slips into Aquarius, your twelfth house of rest and retreat. Mars is here until February 1, bringing a low-key finale to 2012 and a somewhat spacey start to the New Year. You won’t be raring to meet those resolutions, Pisces. In fact, you’ll probably be in a more contemplative or creative mood. Fortunately, Pisces is the natural ruler of the zodiac’s twelfth house, so you’re in your element even as you feel a bit out of sorts. Your subconscious will be on fire, so direct your energies toward manifesting, meditating, vision boarding, and all things spiritual. The good news is, you can actually attract MORE by doing these things than you can by running around in new sneakers trying to shed those so-called holiday pounds. Ugh. You can totally think of better ways to spend your time—like devoting time to a cause, for instance. Mars in your compassionate twelfth house really sparks the spirit of giving—only you’re not going to stop just because the holiday season ends. Plug yourself into a social concern, like saving the oceans or making sure the elderly are treated with dignity and care. If you find yourself wallowing in self-pity or getting ensnared in codependent guilt, get thee to a soup kitchen to serve a hot holiday meal. Be mindful of where you spend your energy now—and avoid the people who drain it!
