Discover your sign's strengths and challenges as a mother.
Your astrological sign reveals the strengths and challenges you face as a mother. Use this insight to create harmonious family relationships.
Nothing gets past you, Virgo. When it comes to parenting, you’re the zodiac’s most prepared. Virgos are consummate researchers, with the patience to bargain-shop for the best price on Bugaboos or find home delivery of biodegradable diapers. You love the details of everything and will track your baby’s growth from the moment of conception. Anything that can be measured and quantified is downright fascinating to you.
Virgo rules the zodiac’s sixth house of health. You’re a “natural” mom in every sense. You’ll dabble in holistic remedies for morning sickness, book prenatal yoga lessons and read up on the politics of breast- versus bottle-feeding. Being an Earth sign, you’ll teach your kids healthy habits, and want to make sure your family lives an eco-friendly lifestyle. Your kids will grow up on vitamins, farm-raised produce and organic milk. There’s a scientific part of you that loves biology and anatomy. Even as your body changes during pregnancy, you’ll approach it like a scientific researcher, learning as much as you can.
Virgo, you absolutely adore children. Although you can be demanding, you’re also as dedicated as they come. You’re a great listener who’s very psychologically astute; there’s a bit of a “therapist” in every Virgo. You love to help, and can be counted on to be there in times of need. You have a unique ability to analyze a situation objectively. As your children get older, they’ll seek out your wise advice more. Although they might not always like your straightforward approach, eventually they’ll realize that you’re almost always right!
Worry, worry! Although it’s great to plan for every what-if, it can also make you a tad neurotic. Reading all those sensationalized news reports on health studies doesn’t help matters, either. Your tendency to over-think and overprotect can cross the line into smothering if you’re not careful. And let’s not even talk about your cleaning fixation, Virgo. Although you’re a pack rat, you can be obsessed with hygiene and order. Nobody ever died of a stained T-shirt or a little grape jelly on the rug!
Virgo is the sign of the perfectionist, gifted with a rare ability to see the cracks in any armor. While this makes you an excellent journalist or psychiatrist, it can also lead you to have unrealistic expectations of your kids. Be sure your judgments and criticisms aren’t too harsh. Virgo, you tend to get up on the soapbox and preach when you feel strongly about something. Sometimes your kids just need to be listened to and heard, rather than given “helpful” feedback.
Temper your urge to micromanage. Like Virgo mother Dina Lohan, you can be a bit of a “mom-ager” in your kids’ lives. You love (in many cases, need) to be in control. You don’t trust anyone but yourself, and this attitude can lead you straight into codependence. We’re not suggesting you drop your kids off with a random stranger, but a qualified child-care professional might deserve a chance! Beyond that, you don’t want to pass on an overly suspicious attitude to your kids. It could foster an attitude of fear, rather than confidence, in the world. Don’t force constant togetherness on your family out of an “us against the world” mentality. It’s OK if they leave the nest. You always feather yours so well that they’ll want to come back!
