William & Kate by the Numbers

The royal wedding is gearing up to be the event of the century. We are about to see a true Prince Charming marrying the Cinderella “girl next door.” Their story could not have been better scripted if it was a Hollywood movie (or maybe a romantic Lifetime movie). 

So why do we love this royal couple? Is it just the media hype, or is there something magical about this pair? When you watch them together, there is something almost magnetic about their smiles; it is obvious they are genuinely in love. They share a special bond, a give-and-take, which happens between partners who are truly compatible.

As Lifetime's numerologist there are many different ways I look at a couple’s numbers to see if they’re compatible or not. To examine their numerology charts I take a look at both their names and their birth dates to see how well the couple fits together — not only at the moment, but whether or not their forecasts indicate that they will make it in the long run. (I find the most accurate readings combine Western and Eastern numerology methods, so I use both.)

With the duties and pressures in the royal couple’s world, do their numbers show they are a couple who will be married 50 years from now? Or are they destined for divorce court? We remember their very public breakup in 2007; punters and gamblers alike are flocking to bet on whether or not it will happen again. Looking at their long-term numerology forecasts, I would bet on them going the distance. Their Personal Years show they are in sync with each other. In 2011 William is in a Personal Year 4, while Kate is in a Personal Year of 5, so Kate is a little ahead of William when it comes to experiencing the lessons of the Personal Year cycles. But in only one year of every 9 years will they be experiencing very different lessons from their Personal Year Cycle.

In 2007 William was in a Personal Year 9 while Kate was in a Personal Year of 1. This means that while William was in a time of closure and endings, Kate was in a place of new beginnings (explaining why she was ready to marry before William was). The next time they will face this “stressor year” will be in 2016, so their relationship will have time to mature before they experience this distance from each other again. As long as they trust each other and have developed a mature, balanced relationship, they should be able to sail through this stressor year.

Prince William has a very interesting chart. He was born on (or about) the summer solstice, June 21, 1982. The summer solstice is the strongest time for dominant yang or masculine energy, as the sun is at its strongest then. I call Will the Sun Prince, as he is symbolic of the dawn of the Aquarian Age. Prince William was born a leader, evidenced not only by his royal lineage but also by his Birth Right, which is an 11/2. This Birth Right takes time to manifest, so we will watch Will grow into his power as he ages. Will’s Heart’s Desire is also an 11/2; this means he truly wants to make a contribution to the world. When you combine this powerful desire with his natural ability, he will likely be successful in anything he sets out to do.

Since both Will’s Personality and his Talent are a 3, he has a very strong creative energy and dynamic social spirit. Prince William’s destiny is to seek change, challenges and adventure, but he will struggle to do so, as the institution he belongs to will resist that change. This powerful man can really help to make the world a better place through the power of his spirit.

Catherine “Kate” Middleton was born on January 9, 1982. Her Birth Right is a 3, which well symbolizes her creativity and genuine positive spirit; Kate’s enhanced social ability will be a useful tool for her in her new role as Princess. Her Destiny (a 6) is to find balance in service, family life and responsibility. As her Heart’s Desire is also a 6, being needed is important to Kate. When you look at Kate’s Personality (a 9) and her Talent (also a 9), Kate will likely channel this “need to be needed” into compassionate causes. She is well suited to assume Princess Di’s work in children’s charities around the globe.

It is interesting that her new public name will be Catherine instead of Kate. Catherine is a more regal name in numerology, symbolizing benevolence; the Heart’s Desire of Catherine is to be diplomatic, while the Personality is one of compassion. “Kate” is more symbolic of a free spirit, although the name projects a down-to-earth personality. Its Heart’s Desire is family-oriented, and it is a little more “girl next door” rather than sounding like the name of a princess.

One of the key areas to check for compatibility is the couple’s Heart’s Desire. If there are conflicting numbers in this area, the couple may have difficulty making a relationship work. Will and Kate share two of the most sensitive and loving numbers (Will’s 11/2 and Kate’s 6). Both of them are very other-oriented and tend to be very aware of what the other person needs. Kate’s energy is a little more mothering, while Will’s is a little more romantic. Their Couple Number is a 5, which means they find each other stimulating. They will always feel challenged and excited by each other’s company, never running out of things to share.

On the whole, these two are a really great combination. They are definitely the couple to watch for years to come. As the world is invited to watch on April 29, 2011 (and 1 billion to 2 billion people are expected to watch), it is a “coincidence” that the numbers in that date add up to a World Day of 1. Not only does the number 1 represent new beginnings; it also represents the dichotomy of both being an individual and being at one with each other. For a moment on April 29, we will all be focused on the royal Cinderella story. As we all wish William and Kate well in their life together, we can take another moment to feel connected to all the other people joining in this moment of romance.
