Underneath the Stars: Weekly Celebrity Astro-Report
Giuliana Rancic (Leo) Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis
E! host and anchor Giuliana Rancic, 37, announced that she’s undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. So sad! However, in true Leo style she’s bravely using her struggles as an opportunity to raise awareness for women. Leos have Jupiter in their 10th house of public image, but we’re certain she’s shocked to find herself as an unlikely spokesperson for mammograms before age 40. Rancic discovered the cancer while undergoing her third round of in vitro fertilization. Fortunately, the cancer was caught in the early stages, and she’s immediately headed to surgery and a short course of chemo. With “wounded healer” Chiron in Pisces, her eighth house of internal health, she will be sure to use this experience as a platform to help others. As for a pregnancy? When Neptune returns to Pisces in February, Rancic and her husband Bill, a Taurus, should have better luck. Get well soon, Giuliana!
Capricorn Karina Smirnoff Postpones Her Nuptials
Not a bad idea there, Karina. With lucky Jupiter retrograde (moving backward) in her romance house, “DWTS’” Smirnoff may be having some second thoughts about love. Even if she’s not questioning her relationship, she might be reevaluating how much time and energy to put into the affair. Weddings are exhausting, and while it may be fun to be a bride, as a Capricorn, being the center of attention can be a little strange. Unless they’re performing or competing. Capricorns would rather take their time and do it right — this sign will never rush. So kudos to her for honoring her Earth-sign nature and doing things on a saner schedule that works for her.
Scorpio Carson Kressley Leaves “DWTS”
With graceful Venus in Scorpio, you’d think that Carson would be paso doble–ing his way to the top. However, the call of his own four walls may have been too hard to resist, even subconsciously. With Neptune in low-power retrograde in his shy fourth house, Carson may have struggled with spending so much time away from his nest — even if he was a crowd favorite. We hope to see more of the former “Queer Eye” star next year, when glamorous Neptune moves into Pisces, his house of fame.
Libra Susan Sarandon Gets Outspoken … But Was Her Timing (and Her Comment) Off?
Susan Sarandon, an equality-minded Libra who fights for fairness, stirred up controversy this week when she referred to Pope Benedict as a “Nazi” during an NYC film festival. Free speech or not, her timing for this was not in alignment with the stars. The expressive Sun has been conjoined with repressive Saturn in Libra for the past couple of weeks. During this once-a-year event, the individualistic Sun stokes our desire for individual liberty, along with our urge to speak out against “Saturnian” authority figures — government figures, institutions, banks (hello, Wall Street protests). We may feel especially that the weighty, established Saturn types are crushing our life-force energy (stoked by the Sun). Libras like Sarandon are feeling this more than anyone else, and she’s been down to Wall Street herself to align with the protesters. Will she take it back … or take a blow to her public image for it? As the Sun moves away from Saturn in the coming days, we’ll see.
