Saturn Direct in Libra: Partnership Time

By admin Thu., Feb. 21, 2013 ,5:30 am EST

After a tough four and a half months, taskmaster Saturn resumes direct (forward) motion today in Libra, the sign of partnership. Saturn has been retrograde (backward) here since February 7, making it harder to gain people's cooperation or to set up smooth collaborations. Some relationships (both business and personal) were tested during this time, and we have experienced reservations around making a commitment. Signing contracts could have taken longer than hoped as well.

Saturn is the planet of structure, commitment, long-term plans and maturity. It's close to the end of a three-year visit to Libra (it will depart this sign on October 5), which has been changing the way the world views togetherness. The upside: During this cycle, marriage equality has been legalized in many states. We've also seen the demise of frivolous "I do's" and engagements made in haste (e.g., the sleazefest that's become "The Bachelor," and Kim Kardashian's 72-day marriage).

During Saturn retrograde, the world even mourned the death of Rodney King, whose plea of "Can't we all just get along?" was heard 'round the world after he was a victim of police brutality in 1991. King's words are eerily poignant as Saturn turns forward today. Fortunately, it should be easier to get people on the same page now, working together for a common goal. Harmony will return to most relationships, though under Saturn's stern influence, you'll still need to spell out agreements clearly. An ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure. Take the time to make sure everyone understands his or her role before you start any project or joint venture.
