Oscar Season: And the Stars Say ...
The Academy Awards are on February 27, and the nominees are in. While Geminis swept the Golden Globes (see our January 20 post), it's a whole different astrological landscape out there now. Although they may not take home all the statues this time, there are plenty of Gemini Oscar nominees. In the category of Best Actress, three of the five nominees are Gems: Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman and Natalie Portman. Helena Bonham Carter and Jacki Weaver, both nominated for Best Supporting Actress, are also Geminis.
So who has a leading edge now? The nominees born under the Fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius — lucky Jupiter is in Aries, which favors their element. That gives a boost to Jeff Bridges (Sag), James Franco (Aries), Mark Ruffalo (Sag), Jennifer Lawrence (Leo), Amy Adams (Leo) and Hailee Steinfeld (Sag).
Cancers also have the winning touch now, since Jupiter is in their 10th house of fame and awards. Cancerian Geoffrey Rush could take home a big victory for "The King's Speech," a film that already seems to have earned the Academy's favor.
There are a decent amount of Virgos in the pack once again: Melissa Leo, John Hawkes, Colin Firth and Michelle Williams. With restrictive Saturn now out of their sign, they could be rewarded for their hard-won growth as actors. Who may get passed over, thanks to Saturn being in his sign now? Libra Jesse Eisenberg for "The Social Network." But if he chooses his next few roles right, he could have the last laugh. By the time Saturn leaves Libra in 2013, Eisenberg could have developed some serious chops that won't be missed by the Academy.
