Memorial Day Weekend Forecast
The long weekend is upon us, a time for family and friends and hometown visits. For most of us, the idyllic Dick-and-Jane story is a lovely notion, but we’re likely to encounter sibling rivalry, guilt trips and other family dynamics along with our baked beans, parade floats and beach-season kickoffs.
This year, the Memorial Day weekend is evenly split between unconventional and traditional. On Friday and Saturday, the Moon puts the “me” in Memorial as it joins rebellious Uranus in self-focused Aries, making it nearly impossible to gain consensus on plans. Everyone wants to do his own thing, and it seems some people want to be contrary just for kicks, or perhaps to assert their dominance. Ugh. Saturday gets even stickier when the Moon forms a loose T-square with humorless Saturn and shadowy Pluto. Parents and significant others can be especially testy. If you’re bringing someone special home to meet the family, you might want to wait until Sunday. Things could get off to a dicey start, or the ice could take time to thaw. People could be cranky and testy, or plain old self-absorbed. Old grudges can flare up among relatives, too.
Thankfully, the Moon moves into humble, traditional Taurus on Sunday morning, where it will stay for the rest of the weekend. While this CAN bring bouts of stubbornness, it will make most people much more levelheaded and even-tempered. On Sunday, the Taurus Moon forms a harmonious trine to Pluto in Capricorn, indicating a chance to transform your relationship with your dad, another male relative, or some other important man in your life. The key: Act from a rational place, rather than an emotional one. Common sense and a nonreactive temper will set the right environment for bonding. Time spent outdoors, perhaps gardening or doing a household project together, brings you closer without having to do the heavy-duty “talk.” Actions speak louder than words under Sunday’s skies.
On Monday, the Taurus Moon aligns with peaceful Venus and energizer Mars, putting you in the mood for some old-fashioned fun (and maybe even romance!) With the Sun in Gemini, ruler of neighborhoods and social activities, go participate in local events. Eat corn on the cob at the county fair, watch the high school marching band parade down Main Street, spread a blanket on the lawn for fireworks. Hold hands as you show your honey your hometown, or honor your family by making your grandparents’ favorite holiday recipes.
