It’s Taurus Time: Ground Yourself
The Sun officially settles into Earth sign Taurus for a month, putting us in builder mode. Outside, flowers and trees are in the tender beginnings of their bloom, a perfect metaphor for what’s blossoming in YOUR life now. This is a critical time, when the temperatures are still unreliable, and new growth needs patient, steady care to ensure its survival. How are you tending your garden now? Remember, just because you’ve planted the seeds or seen the first shoots, doesn’t mean you can leave things to fend for themselves.
A coach once told us, “The way you do anything is the way you do everything.” Taurus time is about bringing your life into alignment through consistency and steady habits. The next month slows us down and gives us a chance to find weak spots in the foundation. On our coffee table: Geneen Roth’s new book, “Lost and Found: Unexpected Revelations About Food and Money.” Roth is a longtime spokesperson for overcoming binge eating through emotional healing (her first book is the classic “When Food Is Love”). Recently, after losing her life savings in the Madoff scandal, she discovered that, just as she once used compulsive eating to numb her feelings, she was now using money to do the same thing: retail-therapy sprees, binge-buying, giving her power away. Taurus rules both money and our appetites for indulgent things, making Roth’s latest book a salient read now.
As humans living in a world of extreme stress, we develop coping mechanisms: smoking, drinking, caretaking, workaholism, zoning out on the computer. You have your vices. We have ours. Awareness and slowing down can help. Interestingly, Taurus rules the five senses, and we connect with our underlying feelings through body sensations (tight muscles, headaches, etc.) — our souls’ way of getting our attention. Use this month to get grounded and centered!
