Golden Globes Nominations: Geminis Lead the Pack
The 2010 Golden Globe nominations were officially announced this week. We couldn’t help but notice that the list of actors was heavily stacked with Geminis. There’s Natalie Portman for “Black Swan,” Annette Bening for “The Kids Are All Right,” Mark Wahlberg for “The Fighter,” Helena Bonham Carter for “The King’s Speech,” Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp for “The Tourist,” and a second nomination for Johnny D., for his summer performance in “Alice in Wonderland.”
We’re not terribly surprised. With lucky Jupiter touring their 10th house of fame and professional honors for most of 2010, it’s time for Geminis to stake their claim to fame. The auspicious planet will remain in this position until January 22. Good thing the Globes ceremony takes place on January 16! We might be hearing quite a few acceptance speeches from the zodiac’s Twins.
Also influencing this cosmic trend? Heavyweight Saturn has been stationed in Gemini’s fifth house of drama for a good part of 2010, prompting many born under this sign to take on more challenging roles. Unfortunately, Saturn’s influence may have made them a bit TOO serious about their “craft” this year. Although both Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie received nominations for “The Tourist,” it was a box-office disappointment, and word on the streets is that’s also rather (yawn, stretch) booooring.
As for the films that are up for awards? We see the influence of Jupiter and Uranus at play. These two planets traveled close together through Pisces in 2010, the sign that rules dreams (“Inception”), the surreal (“Alice in Wonderland”), addiction (“The Fighter”), dance and psychological undoing (“Black Swan” and “Burlesque”), and even tragic tales involving death and illness (“Love and Other Drugs” and “127 Hours”). Pisces likes to plumb the depths of every emotion, and hey, it’s not every year that you get to watch a man saw off his own arm in graphic detail. On January 22, lucky Jupiter moves on to Aries, which is James Franco’s sign. He might get an early cosmic blessing in the form of an award for his riveting yet gruesome role.
