Dare to Wear: Jessica Alba

Posted by kgranero 02/09/10 3:04pm GMT

While stars like Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner were laying on the romance at last night's "Valentine's Day" premiere, Jessica Alba seized the opportunity to channel her inner peacock/flapper in a feathered Proenza Schouler dress.

While I appreciate the flirty nature of the dress (peacock has been on the rise since last spring), its lack of shape and the pairing of those navy and green corked Marc Jacobs platforms look somewhat ammature. Hey, it would make a good Halloween costume.

Red-Carpet Recap: More Romantic "Valentine's Day" Dresses

Posted by Kim M. 02/09/10 2:40pm GMT

Well, not all of the dress that were spotted on the stars (and celeb guests) of the new rom-com "Valentine's Day" were lovable.

Julia Roberts' lace Dior LBD is perfect for a quiet date night, while her niece and actress Emma Roberts' youthful Jenny Packham number is ideal for flirting at cocktail parties. And while I just adore the always glowing Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, her edgier Versace design is best left for the rock-and-rollers.

Jessica Alba was a miss in dark mussed hair, retro platforms and an unflattering A-line Proenza Schouler dress, but Demi Moore made up for it in a fitted Chanel hit. And Rebecca Gayheart, in a sumptuous silk jersey gown that shows off her pregnancy curves, is just as stunning.

Style Showdown: Rihanna vs. Kat DeLuna

Posted by kgranero 02/09/10 1:10pm GMT

I was not expecting this sponge-colored Christian Siriano dress to show up again on the red carpet so quickly (primarily because it's just so distinctive), so when I saw it on Rihanna at the Pepsi Refresh Project Kickoff Party in Miami Beach just weeks after it was worn by Kat DeLuna to the Scott Barnes book launch, I felt a tad giddy.

Both leading ladies manage to pack a lot of personality into the already playful dress, but I prefer Rihanna's nude, strappy sandals over Kat's bowed peep-toes. I'm also falling for her jumbo earrings.

Which celeb makes a bigger splash in Christian Siriano?

Red-Carpet Recap: Three Dresses for "Valentine's Day"

Posted by Kim M. 02/09/10 1:04pm GMT

Are you ready for "Valentine's Day" -- the movie? At the star-studded premiere of the celeb-packed new film, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel showed off their dress picks for the big night.

Garner glowed in a sexy Valentino strapless style that oozed sex appeal (the mommy to two still has it!), while Hathaway went even shorter with her sassy Marchesa mini. And Biel revealed a more over-the-top gown (in V-Day red) by red carpet dress master Oscar de la Renta.

Dare to Wear: Melanie Laurent

Posted by kgranero 02/08/10 4:29pm GMT

Perhaps nothing exudes sex appeal like a body-hugging corset, which is why it baffles me when celebs manage to make them look sloppy.

Case in point: Melanie Laurent, who didn't get much support (to say the least) from her corseted slip dress at the Two Millions Viewers Celebration Party for 'Le Concert' film at the Ritz Club in Paris.

The actress's black combat boots, shiny tights and shaggy 'do completed the grungy getup.

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Floral Dresses in February

Posted by Kim M. 02/08/10 3:46pm GMT

Regardless of what month the calendar reads, stars at this week's Santa Barbara Film Festival were as pretty as spring flowers in their floral frocks.

Sandra Bullock even accessorized her L'Wren Scott sheath with a fistful of buds. And "Atonement" and "Lovely Bones" actress Carey Mulligan's carnation pink Spring 2010 Prada number is as sweet as the floral print on Saoirse Ronan's silk design.

Is it way too early to wear spring florals?

Fashion Formula: Sarah Jessica Parker Continues Her Pink Streak

Posted by Kim M. 02/08/10 2:33pm GMT

Either Sarah Jessica Parker has a serious fashion addiction for everything PINK, or she is just getting into the Valentine's Day spirit early. The stylista showed up AGAIN in another magenta look -- a Dior raspberry silk georgette and lace dress -- over the weekend at a human rights event in NYC.

Should Sarah Jessica Parker stop wearing pink?

Fashion News: February 5 Is Wear Red Day!

Posted by Kim M. 02/05/10 3:24pm GMT

Ladies, we have two great reasons for you to go bold in red: today, February 5, is Wear Red Day, which serves to bring awareness to heart disease in women and its prevention, and also Valentine's Day is just around the corner!

Whether you choose a shorter style like Kim Kardashian's Azzedine Alaia dress or Beyonce's Marc Bouwer design, or go long like voluptuous "Mad Men" actress and redhead Christina Hendricks, the sexy color plays up everyone's feminine curves to the max. And even fair blondes, like funny lady Amy Poehler, look great in the shade. Or, if you are tall and slim, like singer Mya, the color still flatters.

Do you like wearing red dresses?

I'm Obsessed With: Victoria Beckham's Statement Tights

Posted by Kim M. 02/05/10 2:53pm GMT

As a busy working mom of three energetic boys, Victoria Beckham relies on a few wardrobe tricks to keep her looking chic while always on the run.

In addition to almost always accessorizing with an oversized designer bag, like the Hermes "Birkin" style she carried on February 3 in a London airport, the star wore $65 Wolford "Fan" tights with her simple, "just-throw-it-on" black dress to create a modern mod look in one easy step.
